John D. Boice,G. Engholm,Ruth A. Kleinerman,Maria Blettner,Marilyn Stovall,Hermann Lisco,William C. Moloney,Donald F. Austin,Antonio Bosch,Diane Cookfair,Edward T. Krementz,Howard B. Won Choi,Thomas Greg Hislop,Maria Koch,Nancy Kreiger,Dorothy Robb,D Robson,D. H. Thomson,H. Lochmuller,Dietrich von Fournier,Rolf Frischkorn,Kjell E. Kjorstad,Arja Rimpelä,Marie Helene Pejovic,Vera Pompe Kirn,Hanna Stankusova,Franco Berrino,Kristjan Sigurdsson,George B. Hutchison,Brian MacMahon,Gerda Engholm +42 more
TL;DR: Risks were highest among long-term survivors and appeared concentrated among women irradiated at relatively younger ages, and radiation was not found to increase the overall risk of cancers of the small intestine, colon, ovary, vulva, connective tissue, breast, Hodgkin's disease, multiple myeloma, or chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leukemia Following Chemotherapy for Ovarian Cancer
John M. Kaldor,Nicholas E. Day,Folke Pettersson,E. Aileen Clarke,Dorthe Pedersen,Wolf Mehnert,J. Bell,Herman Høst,P. Prior,Sakari Karjalainen,Frank Neal,Maria Koch,Pierre R. Band,Won Choi,Vera Pompe Kirn,Annie Arslan,Birgitta Zarén,A. R. Belch,Hans H. Storm,Bernd Kittelmann,Patricia Fraser,Marilyn Stovall +21 more
TL;DR: The drugs cyclophosphamide, chlorambucil, melphalan, thiotepa, and treosulfan were independently associated with significantly increased risks of leukemia, as was the combination of doxorubicin hydrochloride and cisplatin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Second malignancies following testicular cancer, ovarian cancer and Hodgkin's disease: an international collaborative study among cancer registries.
John M. Kaldor,Nicholas Day,Pierre R. Band,N. W. Choi,EA Clarke,Michel P Coleman,Matti Hakama,Maria Koch,Frøydis Langmark,Frank Neal,Folke Pettersson,Vera Pompe-Kirn,P. Prior,Hans H. Storm +13 more
TL;DR: It appeared that there are clear excess risks for cancers other than acute leukaemia which must be ascribed to therapy for the first cancer, especially in view of the possible under‐reporting in registry material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bladder tumours following chemotherapy and radiotherapy for ovarian cancer: A case—control study
John M. Kaldor,John M. Kaldor,Nicholas E. Day,Berndt Kittelmann,Folke Pettersson,Frøydis Langmark,Dorthe Pedersen,P. Prior,Frank Neal,Sakari Karjalainen,J. Bell,Won Choi,Maria Koch,Pierre R. Band,Vera Pompe-Kirn,Catherine Garton,Wolfhardt Staneczek,Birgitta Zarén,Marilyn Stovall,Paolo Boffetta +19 more
TL;DR: The estimated risk of bladder tumours due to cyclophosphamide was more than twice the risk following radiation to the bladder, and it appeared substantially earlier than in women treated for ovarian cancer, for both agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
