Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular LEGO. 1. Substrate-directed synthesis via stereoregular Diels-Alder oligomerizations
Peter R. Ashton,George R. Brown,Neil S. Isaacs,Daniele Giuffrida,F. H. Kohnke,F. H. Kohnke,J. P. Mathias,J. P. Mathias,Alexandra M. Z. Slawin,Diane R. Smith,J. Fraser Stoddart,J. Fraser Stoddart,David J. Williams +12 more
TL;DR: The diastereoselective synthesis and structural characterization of a wide range of wholly-synthesis cyclic and acyclic polyacene derivatives has been achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functionalisation of the α position of acrylate systems by the addition of carbonyl compounds: Highly pressure-dependent reactions.
Jonathan S. Hill,Neil S. Isaacs +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a wide variety of products may be obtained at pressures of 5 kbar or less whereas most of the reactions do not occur at atmospheric pressure and are catalysed by tertiary amines and are very sensitive to pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Towards the Making of [12]Collarene
Peter R. Ashton,Neil S. Isaacs,F. H. Kohnke,Alexandra M. Z. Slawin,Catriona M. Spencer,J. Fraser Stoddart,David J. Williams +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of α‐substitution reactions of acrylic derivatives
Jon S. Hill,Neil S. Isaacs +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a mechanism in which amine first undergoes Michael addition, the resulting enolate ion adds to the carbonyl compound in a rate-determining step and finally base is eliminated is presented.
