Food incentives to improve completion of tuberculosis treatment: randomised controlled trial in Dili, Timor-Leste.
TL;DR: The intervention had no significant beneficial or harmful impact on the outcome of treatment (76% v 78% completion, P=0.7) but did lead to improved weight gain at the end of treatment as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
The tyranny of distance: maternity waiting homes and access to birthing facilities in rural Timor-Leste
TL;DR: The maternity waiting homes in Timor-Leste did not improve access to facility-based delivery for women in remote areas, and the methods for distance analysis presented in this paper provide a framework that could be used by other countries seeking to evaluate maternity waited homes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Birth choices in Timor-Leste: a framework for understanding the use of maternal health services in low resource settings
TL;DR: An empirically informed framework is proposed which illustrates the complex factors that influence women's birth choices and can be used by policy-makers, practitioners, donors and researchers to think critically about policy decisions and where investments can have the most impact for improving maternal health in Timor-Leste and elsewhere.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stereoselective Synthesis of Aryl Cyclopentene Scaffolds by Heck–Matsuda Desymmetrization of 3‐Cyclopentenol
Ricardo A. Angnes,Juliana M. Oliveira,Caio C. Oliveira,Nelson Martins,Carlos Roque D. Correia +4 more
TL;DR: A new enantioselective Heck-Matsuda desymmetrization reaction was accomplished by using 3-cyclopentenol to produce chiral five-membered 4-aryl cyclopentenols scaffolds in good yields and high ee's.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enantioselective Oxy-Heck-Matsuda Arylations: Expeditious Synthesis of Dihydrobenzofuran Systems and Total Synthesis of the Neolignan (-)-Conocarpan
TL;DR: In this article, the first examples of an effective enanti-selective oxy-Heck-Matsuda reaction using a variety of styrenic olefins to generate chiral dihydrobenzofurans were revealed.
