Journal ArticleDOI
DNA methylation signature in peripheral blood reveals distinct characteristics of human X chromosome numerical aberrations
Amit Sharma,Muhammad Jamil,Nicole Nuesgen,Felix Schreiner,Lutz Priebe,Per Hoffmann,Stefan Herns,Markus M. Nöthen,Holger Fröhlich,Johannes Oldenburg,Joachim Woelfle,Osman El-Maarri +11 more
TL;DR: DNA methylation changes were widespread on all autosomal chromosomes in 45,X and in 47,XXY individuals, with Turner individuals presenting five times more affected loci, which suggests a certain stochastic/random contribution to the methylationChanges at each locus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detailed methylation map of LINE‐1 5′‐promoter region reveals hypomethylated CpG hotspots associated with tumor tissue specificity
Amit Sharma,Muhammad Jamil,Nicole Nuesgen,Albertas Daukša,Antanas Gulbinas,Wolfgang A. Schulz,Johannes Oldenburg,Osman El-Maarri +7 more
TL;DR: Long interspersed nuclear elements (LINE‐1) sequences constitute a substantial portion of the human genome, and their methylation often correlating with global genomic methylation, but most studies are based on only a few specific LINE‐1 CpG sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
F8 Inversions at Xq28 Causing Hemophilia A Are Associated With Specific Methylation Changes: Implication for Molecular Epigenetic Diagnosis.
Muhammad Jamil,Amit Sharma,Nicole Nuesgen,Behnaz Pezeshkpoor,André Heimbach,A. Pavlova,Johannes Oldenburg,Osman El-Maarri +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that genomic inversions in the F8 (Xq28) region are associated with detectable changes in methylation levels and can be used as an epigenetic diagnostic marker.
Journal ArticleDOI
NLRP7, Involved in Hydatidiform Molar Pregnancy (HYDM1), Interacts with the Transcriptional Repressor ZBTB16
TL;DR: The transcriptional repressor ZBTB16 was identified as an interacting protein of NLRP7 and verified this interaction in mammalian cells by immunoprecipitation and confocal microscopy and a clear effect of harvesting ZBT B16 to the cytoplasm when theNLRP7 protein is overexpressed may be linked to the pathology of the molar pregnancy disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of COMT genotypes with S-COMT promoter methylation in growth-discordant monozygotic twins and healthy adults
Felix Schreiner,Osman El-Maarri,Bettina Gohlke,Sonja Stutte,Nicole Nuesgen,Manuel Mattheisen,Rolf Fimmers,Peter Bartmann,Johannes Oldenburg,Joachim Woelfle +9 more
TL;DR: A high variability of S-COMT promoter methylation was observed, which did not correlate with individual differences in the pre- or postnatal growth pattern, but within the twin pairs however a distinct similarity was noted that could be linked to underlying COMT genotypes.
