Cobalt(II)‐Nitronyl Nitroxide Chains as Molecular Magnetic Nanowires
Andrea Caneschi,Dante Gatteschi,Nikolia Lalioti,Claudio Sangregorio,Roberta Sessoli,G. Venturi,Alessandro Vindigni,Angelo Rettori,Maria Gloria Pini,Miguel A. Novak +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
High nuclearity nickel compounds with three, four or five metal atoms showing antibacterial activity.
Maria Alexiou,Ioannis Tsivikas,Catherine Dendrinou-Samara,Anastasia A. Pantazaki,Pantelis N. Trikalitis,Nikolia Lalioti,D.A. Kyriakidis,Dimitris P. Kessissoglou +7 more
TL;DR: Antibacterial activity screening of the above compounds suggests that nickel compounds 2, 3 and 4 were the most active and can act as potent antibacterial agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ising‐Type Magnetic Anisotropy in a Cobalt(II) Nitronyl Nitroxide Compound: A Key to Understanding the Formation of Molecular Magnetic Nanowires
Andrea Caneschi,Dante Gatteschi,Nikolia Lalioti,Roberta Sessoli,Lorenzo Sorace,Vassilis Tangoulis,Alessandro Vindigni +6 more
TL;DR: The magnetic anisotropy of 2 was investigated by EPR spectroscopy and SQUID magnetometry both in the polycrystalline powder and in a single crystal and was related to the anisOTropy of the central ion and to the exchange interaction between the cobalt(II) ion and the radicals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Octanuclearity and tetradecanuclearity in manganese chemistry: an octanuclear manganese(II)/(III) complex featuring the novel [Mn8(μ4- O)2(μ3-OH)2]14+ core and [Mn10IIMn4IIIO4(O2CMe)20{(2-py)2C(OH)O}4](2-py = 2-pyridyl)
Constantinos J. Milios,Elena Kefalloniti,Catherine P. Raptopoulou,Aris Terzis,Ramon Vicente,Nikolia Lalioti,Albert Escuer,Spyros P. Perlepes +7 more
TL;DR: The observed tetradecanuclearity in 1 is extremely rare in 3d-metal chemistry, while the core of 2 has a unique topology consisting of two linked [Mn2(II)Mn 2(III)O(OH)] units.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glauber slow dynamics of the magnetization in a molecular Ising chain
Andrea Caneschi,Dante Gatteschi,Nikolia Lalioti,Claudio Sangregorio,Roberta Sessoli,G. Venturi,Alessandro Vindigni,Angelo Rettori,Maria Gloria Pini,Miguel A. Novak +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the slow dynamics of the magnetization in the paramagnetic phase, predicted by Glauber for the 1d Ising model, has been observed with ac susceptibility and SQUID magnetometry measurements in a molecular chain comprising alternating Co2+ spins and organic radical spins strongly antiferromagneticically coupled to give a 1d ferrimagnet.
