Effectiveness of Face Mask or Respirator Use in Indoor Public Settings for Prevention of SARS-CoV-2 Infection — California, February–December 2021
Kristin L. Andrejko,Jake Pry,Jennifer F. Myers,Nozomi Fukui,J. DeGuzman,John J. Openshaw,James P. Watt,Joseph A Lewnard,Seema Jain,Yasmine Abdulrahim,C. M. Barbaduomo,Miriam I Bermejo,Julia Cheunkarndee,Adrian F Cornejo,Savannah Corredor,Najla Dabbagh,Zheng N Dong,A. P. Dyke,Anna T Fang,Diana Felipe,Paulina M Frost,Timothy Ho,M Javadi,Amandeep Kaur,Ileana Castaño Lam,Sophia S Li,Monique Miller,Jessica Ni,Hyemin Park,Diana J Poindexter,Helia Samani,Shrey Saretha,Maya Spencer,Michelle M Spinosa,Vi Ha Tuong Tran,Nikolina Walas,Christine Wan,Erin Xavier +37 more
TL;DR: It is reinforced that in addition to being up to date with recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, consistently wearing a face mask or respirator in indoor public settings reduces the risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Lund,William Villella,Drake W. Williams,Amanda C. Freise,Jordan Moberg Parker +53 more
TL;DR: Their genomic architectures are typical of cluster K mycobacteriophages, with most variability occurring on the right end of the genome sequence.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of plasmids in carbapenem resistant E. coli in Alameda County, California
Nikolina Walas,Samuel Slown,Heather Amato,T. Abe Lloyd,M. Bender,Vici Varghese,Mark Pandori,Jay P. Graham +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the extent of plasmid mediated antimicrobial resistance can be inferred from short read sequences of carbapenem resistant E. coli (CR-Ec) in Alameda County, California.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clonal Lineages and Virulence Factors of Carbapenem Resistant E. coli in Alameda County, California, 2017–2019
Samuel Slown,Nikolina Walas,Heather Amato,T. Abe Lloyd,Vici Varghese,M. Bender,Mark Pandori,Jay P. Graham +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors characterize sequence data from carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli using whole genome sequencing to characterize the most common lineages and resistance and virulence genes.
Posted ContentDOI
Phylodynamics Uncovers the Transmission of Antibiotic-Resistant Escherichia coli between Canines and Humans in an Urban Environment
Nikolina Walas,Nicola F. Müller,Emily Parker,Abigail L. Henderson,Drew Capone,Joe Brown,Troy Barker,Jay P. Graham +7 more
TL;DR: In this article , the role of canines in transmitting antibiotic resistant bacteria to humans in the urban environment is poorly understood, and the authors utilized genomic sequencing and phylogenetics to characterize the burden and transmission dynamics of antibiotic resistant Escherichia coli (ABR-Ec) cultured from canine and human feces present on urban sidewalks in San Francisco, California.
