Quantifying road dust resuspension in urban environment by Multilinear Engine: A comparison with PMF2

TL;DR: Amato et al. as discussed by the authors used the Multilinear Engine (ME-2) to solve the Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) problem and found that road dust resuspension was responsible for 37%, 15% and 3% of total traffic emissions respectively in PM 10, PM 2.5 and PM 1.
Journal ArticleDOI

African dust contributions to mean ambient PM10 mass-levels across the Mediterranean Basin

TL;DR: In this article, mass-levels of PM 10 measured at regional background sites across the Mediterranean Basin, available from Airbase (European Environmental Agency) and from a few aerosol research sites, are compiled.
Journal ArticleDOI

Partitioning of major and trace components in PM10–PM2.5–PM1 at an urban site in Southern Europe

TL;DR: Particular attention was paid to the partitioning of mineral matter and to the evidence of possible interactions of mineral matters with other pollutants (gaseous pollutants and secondary PM) in the period 2005-2006 as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variability of Particle Number, Black Carbon, and PM10, PM2.5, and PM1 Levels and Speciation: Influence of Road Traffic Emissions on Urban Air Quality

TL;DR: In this article, measurements of particle number concentration (N), black carbon (BC), and PM 10, PM 2.5, and PM 1 levels and speciation were carried out at an urban background monitoring site in Barcelona.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transport of desert dust mixed with North African industrial pollutants in the subtropical Saharan Air Layer

TL;DR: In this paper, chemical composition data of particulate matter samples (TSP, PM 10 and PM 2.5 ) collected from 2002 to 2008 in the North Atlantic free troposphere at the Izana Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW) observatory (Tenerife, Canary Islands) shows that desert dust is very frequently mixed with particulate pollutants in the Saharan Air Layer (SAL).
