The invention discloses a seedless watermelon seedling culture method. The method comprises the steps of seed soaking, wherein seedless watermelon seeds are soaked in a seed soaking reagent for 6-9 h, washed and then dried in the air till seed skin becomes half white at least, and the soaking reagent comprises brassin and water based on the mass ratio of 1:(250-350); 2, germination accelerating, wherein the soaked seedless watermelon seeds are sown in a sand bed and covered with river sand by 1.8-2.3 cm, the moisture of the sand bed is maintained to be 65-75% till seedlings come out, and then scion seedlings are obtained; 3, grafting, wherein a gourd seedling existing when a rough leaf unfolds is used as stock, the scion seedlings and the stock are grafted with the cut-in method so that grafted seedlings can be obtained, and the grafted seedlings are planted in a greenhouse and covered with a mulching film. The method has the advantages that survival rate is high, the problem of root rotting during seedling culture is solved, and selenium content in melon seedlings can be high.

Seedless watermelon seedling culture method

Aspidistra babensis K.S. Nguyen, Aver. & Tillich, a new species of Asparagaceae from limestone mountains of Bac Kan Province in northern Vietnam, is described and illustrated. Morphologically, it is close to A. stricta, sharing a perigone that is upright and split almost to base, and with fleshy perigone lobes. Aspidistra babensis however differs from A. stricta by leaf venation with numerous secondary veins, adaxial perianth lobe which is thickest near base and lacking a prominent median keel at lower half, and a convex to almost hemispherical stigma with a verrucose surface. Sequences of chloroplast DNA (trnL-trnF and rbcL) are provided for A. babensis.

Aspidistra babensis (Asparagaceae), a New Species from Northern Vietnam

The genus Aspidistra has restricted distribution in Southeast Asia, Japan, and China, with more than 160 species. Hayata described three endemic species naturally occurring in Taiwan: Aspidistra attenuata Hayata, A. mushaensis Hayata, and A. daibuensis Hayata, but their descriptions in prologues are incomplete. Based on intensive field surveys, specimen observations, and literature consultations, we reexamine the morphology of these three species and further attempt to determine the diversity of this genus in Taiwan. Therefore, we confirm that there are four species in Taiwan, including one new species, A. longiconnectiva C.T. Lu, K.C. Chuang & J.C. Wang.

Taxonomic revision of aspidistra Ker-Gawl. (asparagaceae) in Taiwan

Two new species, Aspidistra synpetala and A. pulchella, from the limestone areas in Guangxi, southern China, are described and illustrated. A. synpetala is similar to A. longganaensis in the shape of the flower, but differs by the papyraceous leaves, secondary veins prominently, the perigone subsphaeroidal, lobes basally with explanate, connect, white appendage; stigma upper surface purple, slightly convex. A. pulchella resembles to A. guangxiensis, but mainly differs by the perigone tube depressed urceolate, stigma disc-shaped, ca. 20 mm in diameter, 5-6 mm thick, the central part slightly convex with 5 (or 4) radial, purplish red, bifurcate stripes.

Disclosed is a method for inducing and quickly breeding daphnemezereum seeds. The method comprises the following steps: (1) taking high-quality daphnemezereum seeds as explants and performing disinfection; (2) putting the disinfected explants in an MS minimal medium for culture and induction till budding; (3) putting the aseptic buds in an MS minimal medium, and enabling the aseptic buds to be subjected to subculture multiplication culture till multiple buds grow; and (4) shearing the multiple buds into a single bud, and putting the single bud into a strong-seedling rooting medium for culture to obtain a complete sprout with roots. According to the method, the reproduction speed of daphnemezereum sprouts is increased, and the seed original sprouts are not easy to degenerate, so that the quality of sprouts is ensured. The method provides high-quality seed sources for further development of species research, and has bright application prospects.

A project aimed to investigate and monitor the Chinese Materia Medica raw material resources for national essential drugs has been conducted in Guangxi Zhuangzu Autonomous Region, China since 2012. During the study, some unknown plants were brought into cultivation for further research. These plants constantly flowered in the following years, among which more than 30 Aspidistra Ker Gawler (1822: 628) species. They have been identified after studying relevant literature in China and neighbouring countries (Averyanov & Tillich 2014, Li & Lin 2016, Liang & Tamura 2000, Liang et al. 2016, Lin et al. 2015a, 2015b, Nguyen et al. 2017, Tillich 2005, 2006, 2008, 2014, Tillich & Averyanov 2012, Vislobokov 2016, Vislobokov et al . 2016, 2017). In the present paper, we describe a new species of Aspidistra from limestone mountains, southern Guangxi, namely Aspidistra cleistantha.

The invention discloses a rapid propagation method for formation seedlings from calluses of buds of Sansevieria trifasciata Prain. The rapid propagation method comprises the following steps: step 1, taking the buds of Sansevieria trifasciata Prain as explants and placing the explants in an induction medium for culture so as to obtain first calluses; step 2, placing the first calluses obtained in the step 1 in a differential medium for culture so as to obtain clustered shoots; step 3, placing the clustered shoots obtained in the step 2 in a strong seedling medium for culture so as to obtain plants; and step 4, culturing the plants obtained in the step 3 in a rooting medium so as to obtain plants with roots. The propagation coefficient of tissue culture seedlings of Sansevieria trifasciata Prain obtained in the invention is as high as 30 to 50 times; the rooting rate is more than 95%; the survival rate is 100%; so problems in industrialized seedling production of Sansevieria trifasciata Prain are effectively overcome.

The invention provides a tissue culture propagation method for dendrobium gibsonii lindl. The tissue culture propagation method comprises the following steps: (1) taking newly-sprouted tender buds of healthy plants of the dendrobium gibsonii lindl as explants and disinfecting; (2) putting the disinfected explants into an MS basic culture medium to be induced to obtain sterile test tube seedlings; and (3) putting the sterile test tube seedlings into an MS propagation culture medium to perform rapid propagation culture of the test tube seedlings to obtain cluster buds. With the adoption of the culture method provided by the invention, the growth coefficient of the obtained cluster buds of the dendrobium gibsonii lindl can be increased by 20-28 times, high-quality dendrobium gibsonii lindl germchits with a high survival rate can be provided in short time, and a large-scale seedling growing problem of the dendrobium gibsonii lindl is effectively solved.
