A method for estimating the geographical distribution of the available roof surface area for large-scale photovoltaic energy-potential evaluations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors estimate the technical potential of roof-integrated photovoltaic systems and quantify the error made in this estimation based on easily accessible data (such as land uses and population and building densities).
Journal ArticleDOI

Modelling the Temporal Evolution of a Reduced Combustion Chemical System With an Artificial Neural Network

TL;DR: The present work introduces a way of embedding a combustion chemical system in a neural network, in such a way that it can be used, with considerable CPU time and RAM memory savings, in fluid-flow-simulation codes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combustion characteristics of heavy oil-water emulsions

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison between heavy oil and oil-water emulsion flames is presented that, due to the different initial conditions of the spray, provide complementary information, including spatial distributions in the flame of temperature and species concentrations (O2, CO, UHC, NOx) as well as gaseous and solid emissions in the flue gases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of CSP plants for the definition of energy policies: The influence on electricity cost of solar multiples, capacity factors and energy storage

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect on the cost of electricity from concentrating solar power (CSP) plants of the solar multiple, the capacity factor and the storage capacity is studied, and the interplay among these factors can be used to search for a minimal-cost objective that can serve as a technical criterion to guide in the design of economic incentives for CSP plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potential and cost of electricity generation from human and animal waste in Spain

TL;DR: In this paper, the energy contents of human and animal waste generated in Spain are estimated, as well as the electricity that could be potentially generated from such waste, using a cost model for the transformation of the waste into electricity.
