Journal ArticleDOI
The RNA helicase RIG-I has an essential function in double-stranded RNA-induced innate antiviral responses.
Mitsutoshi Yoneyama,Mika Kikuchi,Takashi Natsukawa,Noriaki Shinobu,Tadaatsu Imaizumi,Makoto Miyagishi,Kazunari Taira,Shizuo Akira,Takashi Fujita +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify retinoic acid inducible gene I (RIG-I), which encodes a DExD/H box RNA helicase that contains a caspase recruitment domain, as an essential regulator for dsRNA-induced signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Involvement of TIRAP/MAL in signaling for the activation of interferon regulatory factor 3 by lipopolysaccharide
Noriaki Shinobu,Tomokatsu Iwamura,Mitsutoshi Yoneyama,Kazumi Yamaguchi,Wakako Suhara,Yukiko Fukuhara,Fumio Amano,Takashi Fujita +7 more
TL;DR: This investigation revealed a critical function for TIRAP/MAL, a signaling adapter for Toll‐like receptor (TLR) 4, in LPS‐induced but not dsRNA‐induced activation of IRF‐3, and highlights cross‐talk between TLR‐mediated and virus/ds RNA‐induced signals resulting in activation of the IFN system.
