Calcification rate influence on trace element concentrations in aragonitic bivalve shells: Evidences and mechanisms

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the relationship between trace elements in calcareous organisms and crystal growth rate in mollusc shells and proposed an alternative mechanism for ionic transport through the calcifying mantle of two aragonitic marine bivalve species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Origin of Pyroxenite–Peridotite Veined Mantle by Refertilization Reactions: Evidence from the Ronda Peridotite (Southern Spain)

TL;DR: In this paper, a major and trace element and numerical modeling study of a layered outcrop of group C pyroxenite near the locality of Tolox aimed at constraining the origin of these pyroxensites after host peridotites by pervasive pyroxene-producing, refertilization melt^ rock reactions is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contrasted tectonic styles for the Paleoproterozoic evolution of the North China Craton. Evidence for a ~2.1 Ga thermal and tectonic event in the Fuping Massif

TL;DR: In this article, structural analysis along with 40Ar-39Ar and U-Pb datings in the Fuping massif provide new insight into the evolution of the eastern part of the Trans-North China Belt (North China Craton), from 27 Ga to 18 Ga D1 is responsible for the development of a dome-and-basin structure coeval with crustal melting giving rise to migmatite and Nanying gneissic granites at 21 Ga.
Journal ArticleDOI

Geochemical and petrographic evidence for magmatic impregnation in the oceanic lithosphere at Atlantis Massif, Mid-Atlantic Ridge (IODP Hole U1309D, 30°N)

TL;DR: In this article, a trace element study was carried out on a series of olivine-rich troctolites, and neighbouring troctolis and gabbros, from olivines-rich intervals in Hole U1309D, and the results indicated that clinopyroxene and plagioclase crystallized concurrently, after melts having the same trace element composition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multistage evolution of the Jijal ultramafic-mafic complex (Kohistan, N Pakistan): Implications for building the roots of island arcs

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discards a crystal fractionation model from a single parent magma to take into account the geochemical and isotope variations observed between the plutonic crust and the underlying ultramafic section.
