TL;DR: In a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized, placebo-controlled trials, COX-2 inhibitors were associated with an increased risk of upper gastrointestinal AEs, especially abdominal pain, and an increasedrisk of cardiovascular AEs with COX -2 inhibitors, namely hypertension, heart failure and edema.
