The prediction of hillslope flow paths for distributed hydrological modelling using digital terrain models
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined some of the problems of deriving flow pathways from raster digital terrain data in the context of hydrological predictions using TOPMODEL and proposed a strategy for the case where downslope subsurface flow pathways may deviate from those indicated by the surface topography.
Journal ArticleDOI
A fast, simple and versatile algorithm to fill the depressions of digital elevation models
TL;DR: Instead of gradually filling the depressions of a Digital Elevation Model, this method first inundates the surface with a thick layer of water and then removes the excess water, which makes it much faster than usual algorithms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preferential erosion of black carbon on steep slopes with slash and burn agriculture
Cornelia Rumpel,Vincent Chaplot,Olivier Planchon,J. Bernadou,Christian Valentin,André Mariotti +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the quantitative and qualitative aspects of soil organic matter (SOM) losses caused by water erosion within a small catchment in Northern Laos, under steep slopes and slash and burn agriculture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soil crusting and infiltration on steep slopes in northern Thailand
TL;DR: The relationship between slope gradient and infiltrability depends on the nature of the soil and must be examined in the light of surface crusting processes as mentioned in this paper, which suggests that the vertical component of kinetic energy, which is greater on gentle slopes, has a dominant role.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soil detachment and transport on field- and laboratory-scale interrill areas: erosion processes and the size-selectivity of eroded sediment
O. Malam Issa,Y. Le Bissonnais,Olivier Planchon,David Favis-Mortlock,Norbert Silvera,John Wainwright +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, field and laboratory-scale rainfall simulation experiments were carried out in an investigation of the temporal variability of erosion processes on interrill areas, and the effects of such variation upon sediment size characteristics.
