Journal ArticleDOI
Changing epidemiology of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Hong Kong over a 20-year period (1980–99): An encouraging reduction in both incidence and mortality
TL;DR: Data from the Hong Kong Cancer Registry are highly suggestive of significant improvement in prevention and control of NPC in Hong Kong and closer scrutiny of the differences in intrinsic and extrinsic factors between the genders might help to show important factors affecting oncogenesis and prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recent trends and patterns in breast cancer incidence among Eastern and Southeastern Asian women
Hai-Rim Shin,Clementine Joubert,Mathieu Boniol,Clarisse Héry,Sei Hyun Ahn,Young-Joo Won,Yoshikazu Nishino,Tomotaka Sobue,Chien-Jen Chen,San Lin You,Maria Rica Mirasol-Lumague,Stephen C.K. Law,Oscar Mang,Yong-Bing Xiang,Kee Seng Chia,Suthee Rattanamongkolgul,Jian Guo Chen,Maria Paula Curado,Philippe Autier +18 more
TL;DR: Breast cancer incidence is expected to continue to increase for the next 10 years in Asia and may approach rates reported among Asian-Americans, and age-specific incidence curves showed patterns that gradually changed according to incidence rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Female Breast Cancer Incidence Among Asian and Western Populations: More Similar Than Expected
Hyuna Sung,Philip S. Rosenberg,Wan Qing Chen,Mikael Hartman,Wei-Yen Lim,Kee Seng Chia,Oscar Mang,Chun-Ju Chiang,Daehee Kang,Roger K.C. Ngan,Lap Ah Tse,William F. Anderson,Xiaohong R. Yang +12 more
TL;DR: Similar longitudinal age-specific incidence rates along with converging IRRs indicate that the age effects for invasive breast cancer are more similar among Asian and Western populations than might be expected from a solely cross-sectional analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentiated thyroid carcinoma in childhood and adolescence-clinical course and role of radioiodine.
Sin-Ming Chow,Stephen C.K. Law,William M. Mendenhall,Siu-Kie Au,Stephen Yau,Oscar Mang,Wai-Hon Lau +6 more
TL;DR: Differentiated thyroid carcinoma in childhood has a good prognosis despite a high incidence of relapse, and the use of radioactive iodine (RAI) has not been well established.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in Clinical Presentation, Management and Outcome in 1348 Patients with Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma: Experience in a Single Institute in Hong Kong, 1960–2000
TL;DR: The clinical features, management and outcome of 1348 patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid carcinoma in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong, were analysed according to the period of diagnosis, indicating that the improvement was probably related to the temporal trend of other factors: presentation at earlier stage, increased ratio of PTC:FTC and more aggressive management by bilateral surgery and radiation therapy.
