Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental and theoretical studies of sodium cation interactions with D-arabinose, xylose, glucose, and galactose.

TL;DR: An understanding of the energetic contributions of individual structural characteristics as well as the energetic trends in binding among the monosaccharides is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A continuous source for production of cold, mass-selected transition metal-cluster ions

TL;DR: In this paper, a continuous source of single-charged transition-metal cluster ions is described, where formation and cooling of the clusters occur via vaporization with an 8 kHz Cu vapor laser in a He flow.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural elucidation of biological and toxicological complexes: investigation of monomeric and dimeric complexes of histidine with multiply charged transition metal (Zn and Cd) cations using IR action spectroscopy.

TL;DR: The gas-phase structures of singly and doubly charged complexes involving transition metal cations, Zn and Cd, bound to the amino acid histidine (His) as well as deprotonated His (His-H) are investigated using IRMPD spectroscopy utilizing light generated by a free electron laser.
Journal ArticleDOI

Guided ion beam studies of reactions of alkaline earth ions with O2

TL;DR: In this article, the endothermic reactions of Mg+ and Sr+ with O_2 were studied in a guided ion beam mass spectrometer, and the reaction thresholds were used to obtain 0 K bond dissociation energies of mgO+ (2.50 ± 0.10 eV) and SrO^+ (3.47 ± 0.06 eV), which are compared with other literature values.
