M. N. A. Beurskens,T. H. Osborne,P. A. Schneider,E. Wolfrum,Lorenzo Frassinetti,R. Groebner,P. J. Lomas,I. Nunes,S. Saarelma,R. Scannell,P.B. Snyder,David Zarzoso,I. Balboa,B. Bray,M. Brix,J. Flanagan,C. Giroud,E. Giovannozzi,M. Kempenaars,A. Loarte,E. de la Luna,G. Maddison,C. F. Maggi,D. C. McDonald,Roberto Pasqualotto,G. Saibene,R. Sartori,E. R. Solano,M. Walsh,L. Zabeo,Diii-D Team,Jet-Efda Contributors +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a scaling of the pedestal width in the DIII-D, ASDEX upgrade (AUG) and JET tokamaks is presented in order to test two plasminar width models, one based on the radial extent of a pedestal being set by the point where the linear turbulence growth rate exceeds the ExB velocity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modification of high mode pedestal instabilities in the DIII-D tokamak
J.R. Ferron,Ming-Sheng Chu,G.L. Jackson,L.L. Lao,Robert L. Miller,T.H. Osborne,P.B. Snyder,E. J. Strait,T. S. Taylor,A. D. Turnbull,Am Garofalo,M. A. Makowski,B. W. Rice,M. S. Chance,Larry R. Baylor,Masakatsu Murakami,M. R. Wade +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the amplitude and frequency of H-mode discharges in the edge region of tokamak high mode discharges [type I edge-localized modes (ELMs)] are shown to depend on the discharge shape.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dependence of edge stability on plasma shape and local pressure gradients in the DIII-D and JT-60U tokamaks

TL;DR: In this paper, the dependence of edge stability on plasma shape and local pressure gradients P' in the DIII-D and JT-60U tokamaks is studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlations between quasi-coherent fluctuations and the pedestal evolution during the inter-edge localized modes phase on DIII-Da)
Ahmed Diallo,R. J. Groebner,T. L. Rhodes,D.J. Battaglia,David R. Smith,T.H. Osborne,John Canik,Walter Guttenfelder,P.B. Snyder +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, quasi-coherent fluctuations (QCFs) play a key role in limiting the pedestal temperature gradient and the saturation of these QCFs coincides with the pressure gradient reaching the kinetic-ballooning mode critical gradient.
