Shear yield stress of partially flocculated colloidal suspensions

TL;DR: In this paper, a general expression for the shear yield stress of a flocculated suspension of particles was derived for the effect of particle size distribution, solid loading, pH, and electrokinetics of the suspension.
Journal ArticleDOI

A population balance model for flocculation of colloidal suspensions by polymer bridging

TL;DR: A detailed population balance model for flocculation of colloidal suspensions by polymer bridging under quiescent flow conditions is presented in this paper, where the collision efficiency factor is estimated as a function of interaction forces between polymer coated particles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Yield stress of suspensions loaded with size distributed particles

TL;DR: In this article, a new theoretical approach for the yield stress of concentrated, flocculated particulate suspensions is proposed for the three-dimensional, mechanically rigid particle network held together by interparticle forces wherein the mean coordination number in the assemblage increases and the separation between the particles decreases with an increase in the volume fraction of the solid phase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy consumption and product size distributions in choke-fed, high-compression roll mills

TL;DR: In this paper, four minerals, dolomite, limestone, quartz and hematite, were ground in a laboratory-size chokefed, high-compression roll mill, a newly invented energy-efficient comminution machine.
