Journal ArticleDOI
Body composition in adult growth hormone-deficient men, assessed by anthropometry and bioimpedance analysis.
TL;DR: It is concluded that GH deficiency in adult males is associated with an increase in sc fat and a decrease in body muscle mass, and the hydration state of the LBM is lower than normal, due to a decreases in extracellular water.
Journal Article
Dengue dynamics in binh thuan province, southern vietnam: periodicity, synchronicity and climate variability
Khoa T. D. Thai,Bernard Cazelles,Nam V. Nguyen,Long Thi Vo,Maciej F. Boni,Jj J. Farrar,Cameron P. Simmons,H R van Doom,P. J. de Vries +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Infectious diseases among travellers and migrants in Europe, EuroTravNet 2010
Philippe Gautret,Jakob P. Cramer,Vanessa Field,Eric Caumes,Mogens Jensenius,Effrossyni Gkrania-Klotsas,P. J. de Vries,Martin P. Grobusch,R. López-Vélez,Francesco Castelli,Patricia Schlagenhauf,H Hervius Askling,F. von Sonnenburg,David G. Lalloo,Louis Loutan,Christophe Rapp,F Basto,F Santos O’Connor,Leisa H. Weld,P. Parola +19 more
TL;DR: Illness patterns in sentinel travellers, captured by EuroTravnet, continue to highlight the potential role of travellers in the emergence of infectious diseases of public health concern in Europe and the relevance of offering medical travel advice and enforcing specific and adequate prophylaxis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The optimal growth hormone replacement dose in adults, derived from bioimpedance analysis.
H. J. R. De Boer,G.J. Blok,Bert J. Voerman,P. J. de Vries,Corrie Popp-Snijders,E.A. van der Veen +5 more
TL;DR: GH replacement therapy in adults rapidly corrects the preexisting deficit in ECW, and this rehydration process is dose dependent and may result in a substantial weight gain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Miltefosine treatment of Leishmania major infection: an observational study involving Dutch military personnel returning from northern Afghanistan
P. P. A. M. van Thiel,Tjalling Leenstra,Piet A. Kager,H J C de Vries,M. van Vugt,W. F. van der Meide,Aldert Bart,J.E. Zeegelaar,A. van der Sluis,Henk D. F. H. Schallig,T. van Gool,William R. Faber,P. J. de Vries +12 more
TL;DR: In a retrospective, observational study involving 34 patients with Leishmania major infection, 31 of whom had experienced unsuccessful treatment with intralesional antimony (ilSb(v), miltefosine proved effective.
