Journal ArticleDOI
Alteration in a new gene encoding a putative membrane-organizing protein causes neuro-fibromatosis type 2
Guy A. Rouleau,P. Merel,Mohini Lutchman,Marc Sanson,Marc Sanson,Jessica Zucman,Claude Marineau,Khê Hoang-Xuan,S. Demczuk,Chantal Desmaze,Béatrice Plougastel,Stefan M. Pulst,Gilbert M. Lenoir,E. K. Bijlsma,Raimund Fashold,Jan P. Dumanski,Pieter J. de Jong,Dilys M. Parry,Roswell Eldrige,Alain Aurias,Olivier Delattre,Gilles Thomas +21 more
TL;DR: The deduced product has homology with proteins at the plasma membrane and cytoskeleton Interface, a previously unknown site of action of tumour suppressor genes in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for the complete inactivation of the NF2 gene in the majority of sporadic meningiomas
M H Ruttledge,Julie Sarrazin,S. Rangaratnam,C. M. Phelan,E Twist,P. Merel,Olivier Delattre,Gilles Thomas,Magnus Nordenskjöld,Vincent Peter Collins +9 more
TL;DR: Results provide strong evidence that the suppressor gene on chromosome 22, frequently inactivated in meningioma, is the NF2 gene, and suggest that another gene is involved in the development of 40% of meningo-central nervous system tumours.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predominant occurrence of somatic mutations of the NF2 gene in meningiomas and schwannomas.
P. Merel,Khê Hoang-Xuan,Marc Sanson,A. Moreau-Aubry,E. K. Bijlsma,Conxi Lázaro,Jean-Paul Moisan,F. Resche,Isamu Nishisho,Xavier Estivill,J. Y. Delattre,M. Poisson,Charles Theillet,Theo J. M. Hulsebos,Olivier Delattre,Gilles Thomas +15 more
TL;DR: The involvement of the NF2 gene in human tumorigenesis may be restricted to schwannomas and meningiomas, where it is frequently inactivated by a two‐hit process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Screening for germ-line mutations in the NF2 gene.
P. Merel,Khê Hoang-Xuan,Marc Sanson,E. K. Bijlsma,Guy A. Rouleau,Pierre Laurent-Puig,Stephan Pulst,Michael E. Baser,Gilbert M. Lenoir,Jean Marc Sterkers,Jacques Philippon,F. Resche,Victor F. Mautner,Georges Fischer,Theo J. M. Hulsebos,Alain Aurias,Olivier Delattre,Gilles Thomas +17 more
TL;DR: A screening method for the detection of point mutations in NF2 which takes advantage of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and efficiently screens 95% of the coding sequence and 90% of intron/exon junctions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular analysis of genetic changes in ependymomas.
E. K. Bijlsma,Annet M. J. Voesten,Engelien H. Bijleveld,Dirk Troost,Andries Westerveld,P. Merel,Gilles Thomas,Theo J. M. Hulsebos +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that ependymomas resemble the other glial neoplasms with respect to type and location of the chromosomal changes involved and should be considered genetically as low‐grade gliomas.
