Children exposure to atmospheric particles in indoor of Lisbon primary schools
Susana Marta Almeida,Nuno Canha,Ana Maria Gonçalves da Silva,Maria do Carmo Freitas,P. N. Pegas,Célia Alves,Margarita Evtyugina,Casimiro Pio +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the levels and the element composition of PM2.5 in three primary schools placed in Lisbon, in order to assess the children exposure to these pollutants and investigate the sources of high aerosols concentrations in classrooms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Indoor air quality in elementary schools of Lisbon in spring
P. N. Pegas,Célia Alves,Margarita Evtyugina,Teresa Nunes,Mário Cerqueira,Marielle Franchi,Casimiro Pio,Susana Marta Almeida,M. C. Freitas +8 more
TL;DR: The aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes, followed by ethers, alcohols and terpenes, were usually the most abundant classes of VOCs, and indoor total VOC concentrations were markedly higher than those observed outdoors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outdoor/indoor air quality in primary schools in Lisbon: a preliminary study
P. N. Pegas,Margarita Evtyugina,Célia Alves,Teresa Nunes,Mário Cerqueira,Mariana Franchi,Casimiro Pio,Susana Marta Almeida,M. C. Freitas +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, simultaneous measurements of outdoor and indoor pollution were performed at three schools in Lisbon, and the highest indoor levels of CO2, NO2, VOCs, formaldehyde and bioaerosols were measured over a two-week period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal evaluation of outdoor/indoor air quality in primary schools in Lisbon
P. N. Pegas,Célia Alves,Margarita Evtyugina,Teresa Nunes,Mário Cerqueira,Mariana Franchi,Casimiro Pio,Susana Marta Almeida,S. Cabo Verde,M. C. Freitas +9 more
TL;DR: It has been observed that higher indoor VOC concentrations occurred more often in the colder months, while carbonyl concentrations were higher in the warm months, thus showing the importance of indoor sources and building conditions in indoor air quality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Indoor and outdoor characterisation of organic and inorganic compounds in city centre and suburban elementary schools of Aveiro, Portugal
P. N. Pegas,Teresa Nunes,Célia Alves,J.R. Silva,S.L.A. Vieira,Alexandre Caseiro,Casimiro Pio +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated pollutant concentrations inside and outside school buildings at different locations (city centre and suburban) in Aveiro, Portugal, between April and June 2010, and evaluated simultaneously comfort parameters (temperature, relative humidity, CO2 and CO) and indoor and outdoor concentrations of VOCs, NO2, PM10 and bioaerosols.
