Journal ArticleDOI
Sodium Intake and Hypertension.
TL;DR: The effects of sodium intake on vascular hemodynamics and their implication in the pathogenesis of hypertension are focused on and include changes in the structure and function of large elastic arteries, modification in sympathetic activity, and in the autonomic neuronal modulation of the cardiovascular system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of anatomical variants and coronary anomalies in 543 consecutive patients studied with 64-slice CT coronary angiography
Filippo Cademartiri,Ludovico La Grutta,Ludovico La Grutta,Roberto Malago,Roberto Malago,Filippo Alberghina,Filippo Alberghina,Willem B. Meijboom,Francesca Pugliese,Erica Maffei,A. Palumbo,Annachiara Aldrovandi,M. Fusaro,Valerio Brambilla,Paolo Coruzzi,Massimo Midiri,Nico R. Mollet,Gabriel P. Krestin +17 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, 64-slice CT-CA provides optimal visualization of the variable and complex anatomy of coronary arteries because of the improved isotropic spatial resolution and flexible post-processing tool.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of intra-coronary enhancement on diagnostic accuracy with 64-slice CT coronary angiography.
Filippo Cademartiri,Erica Maffei,A. Palumbo,Roberto Malago,Ludovico La Grutta,W. Bob Meiijboom,Annachiara Aldrovandi,M. Fusaro,Luigi Vignali,Alberto Menozzi,Valerio Brambilla,Paolo Coruzzi,Massimo Midiri,Miles A. Kirchin,Nico R. Mollet,Gabriel P. Krestin +15 more
TL;DR: Higher intra-coronary attenuation on CT-CA results in greater diagnostic accuracy for detection of coronary artery stenosis, particularly in distal coronary segments than in proximal segments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between salt sensitivity and insulin concentrations in patients with hypertension
Ivana Zavaroni,Paolo Coruzzi,Luca Bonini,Gian Luigi Mossini,L. Musiari,Paola Gasparini,Manuela Fantuzzi,Gerald M. Reaven +7 more
TL;DR: There were correlations of marginal statistical significance between the decrease in MAP after the low-salt diet and the plasma glucose and insulin responses to oral glucose, consistent with the view that there is an association between resistance to insulin-mediated glucose disposal and salt sensitivity in patients with high blood pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multifractal-Multiscale Analysis of Cardiovascular Signals: A DFA-Based Characterization of Blood Pressure and Heart-Rate Complexity by Gender
TL;DR: Applied to cardiovascular signals recorded in 42 female and 42 male volunteers, it showed that scale coefficients and degree of multifractality depend on the temporal scale, with marked differences between IBI, SBP, and DBP and with significant sex differences.
