Spectral domain optical coherence tomography findings in patients with acute syphilitic posterior placoid chorioretinopathy
Francesco Pichi,Antonio P. Ciardella,Emmett T. Cunningham,Emmett T. Cunningham,Mariachiara Morara,Chiara Veronese,J. Michael Jumper,Thomas A. Albini,David Sarraf,Colin A. McCannel,Vinod B. Voleti,Netan Choudhry,Enrico Bertelli,Gian Paolo Giuliari,Eric Souied,Radgonde Amer,Federico Regine,Federico Ricci,Piergiorgio Neri,Paolo Nucci +19 more
TL;DR: Patients with acute syphilitic posterior placoid chorioretinitis show characteristic outer retinal abnormalities on SD OCT imaging, including disruption of the inner segment/outer segment band, nodular thickening of the RPE with Loss of the linear outer segment/RPE junction, and, in some cases, loss of the external limiting membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vivo confocal evaluation of the ocular surface morpho-functional unit in dry eye.
Edoardo Villani,Fabrizio Magnani,Francesco Viola,Alessandro Santaniello,Raffaella Scorza,Paolo Nucci,Roberto Ratiglia +6 more
TL;DR: Laser scanning confocal microscopy can provide an in vivo, noninvasive, high-resolution overview of the ocular surface morpho-funcional unit in patients with primary Sjogren syndrome, non-SSDE, and meibomian gland disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Normal Endothelial Cell Density Range in Childhood
TL;DR: Specular microscopy of the in vivo corneal endothelium of 214 clinically normal eyes in children ranging from 5 to 14 years of age showed a regular mosaic of hexagonal cells, and quantitative analysis permitted us to determine the normal range of the endothelial cell count at each age.
Journal ArticleDOI
EN FACE OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY AND OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY ANGIOGRAPHY OF MULTIPLE EVANESCENT WHITE DOT SYNDROME: New Insights Into Pathogenesis
Francesco Pichi,Sunil K. Srvivastava,Saradha Chexal,Andrea Lembo,Luiz H. Lima,Piergiorgio Neri,Andrea Saitta,Jay Chhablani,Thomas A. Albini,Paolo Nucci,K. Bailey Freund,Hye Won Chung,Careen Y. Lowder,David Sarraf,David Sarraf +14 more
TL;DR: By combining multimodal imaging, the authors propose that multiple evanescent white dot syndrome is primarily the result of inflammation at the outer photoreceptor level leading to a "photoreceptoritis" and causing loss of the inner and outer segments.
Journal ArticleDOI
En face optical coherence tomography of inner retinal defects after internal limiting membrane peeling for idiopathic macular hole.
TL;DR: Inner retinal defects frequently occurred after idiopathic MH surgery when ILM was peeled, and this feature has not been previously reported using an en face SD-OCT imaging, and it consisted of numerous CMDS in the same direction of the optic nerve fibers.
