Calculation of land use price and land use claims for agriculture, transport and urban land use at national level
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the NEMESIS land-use module, its implementation in the core-model and provides simulation results for PLUREL scenarios explaining differences between scenarios as well as between countries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nuclear and intermittent renewables: Two compatible supply options? The case of the French power mix
Camille Cany,Christine Mansilla,Pascal da Costa,G. Mathonniere,Thierry Duquesnoy,Anne Baschwitz +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the impact of load modulation on the nuclear production cost and showed that the nuclear annual energy production will decrease with high shares of intermittent renewables (down to load factors of 40% for proactive assumptions), but the production cost increase could be compensated by progressively replacing the plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adapting the French nuclear fleet to integrate variable renewable energies via the production of hydrogen: Towards massive production of low carbon hydrogen?
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluate the extent to which excess nuclear power could contribute to producing low-carbon hydrogen in the French context, which is characterised by a high nuclear share and the target to increase variable renewables by 2050.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost-benefit analysis of district heating systems using heat from nuclear plants in seven European countries
TL;DR: In this article, the potential cost savings and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction of district heating (DH) systems using heat from nuclear combined heat and power plants (NCHP) in Europe were evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cost and climate savings through nuclear district heating in a French urban area
TL;DR: In this article, the socioeconomic potential of heating systems that could be developed in the Lyon urban area (France) was compared with electric boilers and central gas boilers in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and heating costs.
