Neutralization of Malaria Glycosylphosphatidylinositol In Vitro by Serum IgG from Malaria-Exposed Individuals
J. Brian de Souza,J. Brian de Souza,Manohursingh Runglall,Patrick H. Corran,Lucy C Okell,Sanjeev Kumar,D. Channe Gowda,Kevin N. Couper,Eleanor M. Riley +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that IgG from Plasmodium falciparum-exposed individuals can significantly inhibit the GPI-induced activation of macrophages in vitro, as shown by reduced levels of tumor necrosis factor production and attenuation of CD40 expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of Serological Tools and Spatial Analysis to Investigate Malaria Transmission Dynamics in Highland Areas of Southwest Uganda
Caroline A. Lynch,Jackie Cook,Sarah Nanyunja,Jane Bruce,Amit Bhasin,Chris Drakeley,Cally Roper,Richard Pearce,John B. Rwakimari,Tarekegn A. Abeku,Patrick H. Corran,Jonathan Cox +11 more
TL;DR: Findings identify ways in which malaria prevention and control can be more effectively targeted in highland or low transmission areas via serological measures, which will become increasingly important for countries with an elimination agenda and where malaria transmission is becoming patchy and focal, but receptivity to malaria transmission remains high.
APPLICATION OF SEROLOGICAL TOOLS AND SPATIAL ANALYSIS TO INVESTIGATE MALARIA TRANSMISSION DYNAMICS IN HIGHLAND AREAS OF SOUTHWEST UGANDA Application of Serological Tools and Spatial Analysis to Investigate Malaria Transmission Dynamics in Highland Areas of Southwest Uganda
Caroline A. Lynch,Jackie Cook,Sarah Nanyunja,Jane Bruce,Amit Bhasin,Chris Drakeley,Cally Roper,Richard Pearce,John B. Rwakimari,Tarekegn A. Abeku,Patrick H. Corran +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used seroprevalence to identify hotspots of malaria transmission that might be difficult to detect using traditional cross-sectional parasite surveys or through vector studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ammonia cleaves polypeptides at asparagine proline bonds.
Edward Tarelli,Patrick H. Corran +1 more
TL;DR: The partial conversion of in-chain Asp residues to isoAsp under the reaction conditions was inferred from RP-HPLC and MS analysis of reaction mixtures.
Journal Article
Application of an in vitro endopeptidase assay for detection of residual toxin activity in tetanus toxoids.
TL;DR: Development and use of an in vitro endopeptidase assay for detection of TeNT activity in toxoid vaccine formulations is described.
