Journal ArticleDOI
MASS-FIX for the detection of monoclonal proteins and light chain N-glycosylation in routine clinical practice: a cross-sectional study of 6315 patients
Patrick W. Mellors,Surendra Dasari,Mindy C. Kohlhagen,Taxiarchis Kourelis,Ronald S. Go,Eli Muchtar,Morie A. Gertz,Shaji Kumar,Francis K. Buadi,Maria Alice V. Willrich,John A. Lust,Prashant Kapoor,Martha Q. Lacy,David Dingli,Yi Hwa,Amie Fonder,Miriam Hobbs,Susan R. Hayman,Rahma Warsame,Nelson Leung,Yi Lin,Wilson I. Gonsalves,Mustaqeem A. Siddiqui,Robert A. Kyle,S. Vincent Rajkumar,David L. Murray,Angela Dispenzieri +26 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed mass spectrometric analysis of patients with a wide array of plasma cell disorders (PCD), including rare monoclonal gammopathies of clinical significance, and found that two hundred twenty-one (5%) of the positive patients had evidence of light chain N-glycosylation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metaphase cytogenetics and plasma cell proliferation index for risk stratification in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma.
Patrick W. Mellors,Moritz Binder,Rhett P. Ketterling,Patricia T. Greipp,Linda B. Baughn,Jess F. Peterson,Dragan Jevremovic,Kathryn E. Pearce,Francis K. Buadi,Martha Q. Lacy,Morie A. Gertz,Angela Dispenzieri,Suzanne R. Hayman,Prashant Kapoor,Wilson I. Gonsalves,Yi L. Hwa,Amie Fonder,Miriam Hobbs,Taxiarchis Kourelis,Rahma Warsame,John A. Lust,Nelson Leung,Ronald S. Go,Robert A. Kyle,S. Vincent Rajkumar,Shaji Kumar +25 more
TL;DR: Metaphase cytogenetic abnormalities lack sensitivity for important chromosomal aberrations and, along with PCPro and FISH gain 1q, do not improve risk stratification in MM when accounting for R-ISS and age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time to plateau as a predictor of survival in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma.
Patrick W. Mellors,Moritz Binder,Francis K. Buadi,Martha Q. Lacy,Morie A. Gertz,Angela Dispenzieri,Suzanne R. Hayman,Prashant Kapoor,Wilson I. Gonsalves,Yi L. Hwa,Amie Fonder,Miriam Hobbs,Taxiarchis Kourelis,Rahma Warsame,Steven R. Zeldenrust,John A. Lust,Nelson Leung,Ronald S. Go,Robert A. Kyle,S. Vincent Rajkumar,Shaji Kumar +20 more
TL;DR: Patients with a prolonged TPlat could represent an “ongoing responder” phenotype that portends a survival advantage independent of treatment with upfront ASCT, depth of response, and biologic markers such as ISS stage and cytogenetic risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristics and risk factors for thrombosis in POEMS syndrome: A retrospective evaluation of 230 patients.
Patrick W. Mellors,Taxiarchis Kourelis,Ronald S. Go,Eli Muchtar,Morie A. Gertz,Shaji Kumar,Francis K. Buadi,Prashant Kapoor,Martha Q. Lacy,David Dingli,Yi Hwa,Amie Fonder,Miriam Hobbs,Suzanne R. Hayman,Rahma Warsame,Nelson Leung,Yi Lin,Wilson I. Gonsalves,Mustaqeem A. Siddiqui,Robert A. Kyle,S. Vincent Rajkumar,Angela Dispenzieri +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify novel risk factors for POEMS-associated thrombosis, such as thrombinogenesis, extravascular volume overload, splenomegaly, and hyperprolactinemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
MASS-FIX for the Diagnosis of Plasma Cell Disorders: A Single Institution Experience of 4118 Patients
Patrick W. Mellors,Surendra Dasari,Mindy C. Kohlhagen,Bonnie K. Arendt,Morie A. Gertz,Shaji Kumar,Francis K. Buadi,Maria Alice V. Willrich,John A. Lust,Prashant Kapoor,Martha Q. Lacy,David Dingli,Yi L. Hwa,Amie Fonder,Miriam Hobbs,Suzanne R. Hayman,Taxiarchis Kourelis,Rahma Warsame,Eli Muchtar,Nelson Leung,Ronald S. Go,Yi Lin,Wilson I. Gonsalves,Mustaqeem A. Siddiqui,Robert A. Kyle,S. Vincent Rajkumar,David L. Murray,Angela Dispenzieri +27 more
TL;DR: This single institution experience illustrates the practicality of MASS-FIX in detecting and following monoclonal proteins for a wide range of PCDs in a tertiary center.
