Journal ArticleDOI
Geographic distribution and host plant ranges of East African noctuid stem borers
Bruno Le Ru,George Ong’amo,Pascal Moyal,Eric Muchugu,Leonard Ngala,Boaz K. Musyoka,Zainab Abdullah,Teddy Matama-Kauma,Vuai Yahya Lada,Beatrice Pallangyo,C. O. Omwega,Fritz Schulthess,Paul-André Calatayud,Jean-François Silvain +13 more
TL;DR: It is found that species belonging to the same types or genus harboured common ecological characteristics such as pigmentation and feeding site, and the Sciomesa Tams and Bowden 1953 genus was an exception as it had a mixture of these characters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diversity of lepidopteran stem borers on monocotyledonous plants in eastern Africa and the islands of Madagascar and Zanzibar revisited
B. P. Le Ru,George Ong’amo,Pascal Moyal,L Ngala,Boaz K. Musyoka,Z. Abdullah,D. Cugala,B. Defabachew,T.A. Haile,T. Kauma Matama,VY Lada,B. Negassi,K. Pallangyo,J. Ravolonandrianina,A. Sidumo,C. O. Omwega,Fritz Schulthess,Paul-André Calatayud,Jean-François Silvain +18 more
TL;DR: The lepidopteran stem borer species diversity in the wild host plants was far more diverse than previously reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogeography and population genetics of the maize stalk borer Busseola fusca (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) in sub-Saharan Africa.
Michel Sezonlin,Stéphane Dupas,B. Le Ru,P. Le Gall,P. Le Gall,Pascal Moyal,Paul-André Calatayud,I. Giffard,Nathalie Faure,Jean-François Silvain +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the maize stalk borer Busseola fusca was collected from maize and cultivated sorghum at 52 localities in West, Central and East Africa during the growing season.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution, pest status and agro-climatic preferences of lepidopteran stem borers of maize in Kenya
Georges O. Ong’amo,Bruno Le Ru,Stéphane Dupas,Pascal Moyal,Paul-André Calatayud,Jean-François Silvain +5 more
TL;DR: Results indicated that B. fusca was the dominant stem borer species in high potential zones (highland tropics, moist transitional zone and moist midaltitude) while the exotic C. partellus dominated smallholder farms in low potential zone (dry midALTitude, dry transional and lowland tropical zone).
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytochemistry of defense responses in cassava infected by Xanthomonas campestris pv. manihotis
TL;DR: Stems of susceptible and resistant cassava plants have been cytologically investigated for their defense reactions to an aggressive strain of Xanthomonas campestris pv.
