Quaternary time scales for the Pontocaspian domain : Interbasinal connectivity and faunal evolution
Wout Krijgsman,Alexey S. Tesakov,Tamara Yanina,Sergei Lazarev,Guzel Danukalova,C.G.C. van Baak,J. Agustí,Mehmet Cihat Alçiçek,E. Aliyeva,Diksha Bista,Angela A. Bruch,Yeşim Büyükmeriç,Maia Bukhsianidze,Rachel Flecker,Pavel Frolov,Thomas M. Hoyle,Elisabeth L. Jorissen,Uwe Kirscher,Sifan A. Koriche,Salomon B. Kroonenberg,David Lordkipanidze,Oriol Oms,Lea Rausch,Joy S. Singarayer,Marius Stoica,S. van de Velde,Vadim V. Titov,Frank P. Wesselingh +27 more
TL;DR: This paper reviewed and updated the late Pliocene to Quaternary stratigraphic framework of the Pontocaspian domain, focusing on the Black Sea Basin, Caspian Basin, Marmara Sea and the terrestrial environments surrounding these large, mostly endorheic lake-sea systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mollusc species from the Pontocaspian region – an expert opinion list
Frank P. Wesselingh,Thomas A. Neubauer,Vitaliy V. Anistratenko,Maxim V. Vinarski,Tamara Yanina,Ter Poorten Jj,Kijashko P,Christian Albrecht,Olga Yu. Anistratenko,D'Hont A,Pavel Frolov,Ándara Am,Adriaan Gittenberger,Aleksandre Gogaladze,Mikhail Karpinsky,Matteo Lattuada,Luis Ovidiu Popa,Arthur F. Sands,Lde Svv,J. Vandendorpe,Thomas Wilke +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an expert-working list of Pontocaspian and invasive mollusc species associated to Pontocasian habitats is presented based on published and unpublished data on morphology, ecology, anatomy, and molecular biology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Romul_Hum model of soil organic matter formation coupled with soil biota activity. I. Problem formulation, model description, and testing
Alexander Komarov,Oleg Chertov,S. S. Bykhovets,Cindy Shaw,Marina Nadporozhskaya,Pavel Frolov,Maxim Shashkov,Vladimir Shanin,Pavel Grabarnik,Irina Priputina,Elena Zubkova +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a modelling approach based on the existence of definable stoichiometric relations among the processes leading to SOM formation that are mediated by soil biota (e.g., correlations among biotic respiration, production of faunal excrement, and necromass as sources of SOM formation).

Mollusc species from the Pontocaspian region – an expert opinion list
Frank P. Wesselingh,Thomas A. Neubauer,Vitaliy V. Anistratenko,Maxim V. Vinarski,Tamara Yanina,J.J. ter Poorten,Pavel V. Kijashko,Christian Albrecht,Olga Yu. Anistratenko,Hont, D, A.,Pavel Frolov,A. Martínez Gándara,Adriaan Gittenberger,Aleksandre Gogaladze,M. Karpinsky,Matteo Lattuada,Luis Ovidiu Popa,Arthur F. Sands,S. van de Velde,J. Vandendorpe,Thomas Wilke +20 more
TL;DR: This paper presents an expert-working list of Pontocaspian and invasive mollusc species associated to PontOCaspian habitats, based on published and unpublished data on morphology, ecology, anatomy, and molecular biology, to identify and discuss taxonomic uncertainties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Romul_Hum—A model of soil organic matter formation coupling with soil biota activity. II. Parameterisation of the soil food web biota activity
Oleg Chertov,Alexander Komarov,Cindy Shaw,S. S. Bykhovets,Pavel Frolov,Vladimir Shanin,Pavel Grabarnik,Irina Priputina,Elena Zubkova,Maxim Shashkov +9 more
TL;DR: A novel approach to including soil faunal activity in modelling of soil C dynamics takes advanatage of the high degree of organisation within soil biotic communities in FWs and integrates the effects of microorganisms and soil fauna that govern the processes of organic residues transformation and mineralisation in the soil system.
