Impacts of OrX and cAMP-insensitive Orco to the insect olfactory heteromer activity.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that the characteristics of ORX/Orco heteromers strongly depend on both the ORX type and the coreceptor variant, and they showed that ORX-PKC decreased odorant sensitivity in both heteromers, and blocked an outward current rectification intrinsic to the OR49b/ORco pair, while the latter required a 10-100 times lower ligand concentration to evoke a similar electrical response.
Journal ArticleDOI

[Phase-dependent coordination of two motor programs in the buccal ganglion of a pteropod mollusk].

TL;DR: In this paper, phase-dependent coordination of two independent rhythmic food-procuring movements in Clione limacina was demonstrated, even in conditions of electrical stimululation of the cerebrobuccal connectives.

Thermogenetic control of Ca2+ levels in cells and tissues

TL;DR: Genetically encoded calcium controller (GECCO) as mentioned in this paper is a system for thermogenetic Ca2+ manipulation based on snake TRP channels optically controlled by infrared illumination, which enabled the shaping of insulin release from β-cells, the identification of drugs that potentiate Ca2-induced insulin release, and the generation of synthetic Ca 2+ signatures in plants.
