Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial reactive oxygen species and Ca2+ signaling
TL;DR: There is evidence that mitochondria generate ROS in response to cell stimulation, an effect suppressed by mitochondrial inhibitors that simultaneously block [Ca(2+)](i) signals, a new aspect in the biology of mitochondria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Release of calcium from mitochondrial and nonmitochondrial intracellular stores in mouse pancreatic acinar cells by hydrogen peroxide.
TL;DR: H2O2 releases calcium from CCK-8- and thapsigargin-sensitive intracellular stores and from mitochondria, and is likely mediated by oxidation of sulfhydryl groups of calcium-ATPases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcium dependence of calcium extrusion and calcium uptake in mouse pancreatic acinar cells
TL;DR: The droplet technique was used to investigate the calcium dependence of calcium extrusion from pancreatic acinar cells with preserved intracellular environments and indicated a strong co‐operativity, indicating that extrusion plays a more important role at low [Ca2+]i levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcium binding capacity of the cytosol and endoplasmic reticulum of mouse pancreatic acinar cells.
Hideo Mogami,Julie Gardner,Oleg Vsevolodovich Gerasimenko,Pedro J. Camello,Ole H. Petersen,Alexei V. Tepikin +5 more
TL;DR: A difference of two orders of magnitude is found in the efficiency of calcium buffering in the cytosol and the ER lumen in pancreatic acinar cells.
