Importance of Unattached Bacteria and Bacteria Attached to Sediment in Determining Potentials for Degradation of Xenobiotic Organic Contaminants in an Aerobic Aquifer

TL;DR: The bacterial abundance, distribution, and degradation potential (in terms of degradation versus lack of degradation) for four xenobiotic compounds in an aerobic aquifer sediment have been examined in laboratory and field experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

A field method for determination of groundwater and groundwater-sediment associated potentials for degradation of xenobiotic organic compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the degradation potential of eight organic trace contaminants (benzene, toluene, o -xylene, naphthalene, tetrachloromethane, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, trichloroencane, triethyltetane, threedimensional chloroethene) was determined by specially developed in situ microcosms under aerobic and anaerobic aquifer conditions.
Book ChapterDOI

In Situ Measurement of Organic Pollutant Degradation in a Leachate Plume

TL;DR: In this article, the degradation of 22 specific organic compounds (aromatic, chlorinated aliphatic and phenolic hydrocarbons) was measured in in situ microcosms installed in four different redox zones (aerobic, denitrifying, iron(III)-reducing and methanogenic) of a landfill leachate pollution plume.
