550-km Amplified Direct-Detection Transmission at 1.3μm

TL;DR: In this article , the authors report on transmission experiments in the O-band using a bismuth-doped fiber amplifier-based optical recirculating loop and demonstrate distances up to a record length of 550 km in a 50-Gb/s direct-detection system at the softdecision forward error correction limit.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Coexistence analysis of classical channels with DV-QKD over hollow core nested antiresonant nodeless fibre (HC-NANF)

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors take advantage of the ultra-low nonlinearity of Hollow Core Nested Antiresonant Nodeless Fibre (HC-NANF) to demonstrate the coexistence of discrete-variable quantum key distribution channel with carrier-grade classical optical channels over a 2 km NANF.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

The dynamically light-induced low-reflectivity state in gallium

TL;DR: In this paper, a light-induced state of the gallium-silica interface with specular reflectivity as low as 6% was reported, and the low-reflectivity state can be induced at light power levels starting around one milliwatt, and only within a narrow, less than one degree Celsius, temperature interval, below the bulk melting point of gallium.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

GHz-repetition-rate pulse multiplication using a sampled fiber Bragg grating

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate the use of a superstructure fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) for pulse repetition rate multiplication, obtaining a 40 GHz pulse train from a 10 GHz input.
