Journal ArticleDOI
Increasing the flow of carbon into seed oil.
Randall J. Weselake,David C. Taylor,M. Habibur Rahman,Saleh Shah,André Laroche,Peter B. E. McVetty,John L. Harwood +6 more
TL;DR: The demand for vegetable oils for food, fuel (bio-diesel) and bio-product applications is increasing rapidly and it is estimated that a 50 to 75% increase in canola oil production will be required to meet the demand for seed oil in the next 7-10years.
Journal ArticleDOI
An ultradense genetic recombination map for Brassica napus, consisting of 13551 SRAP markers.
Zudong Sun,Wang Zining,Jinxing Tu,Jinxing Tu,Jiefu Zhang,Fengqun Yu,Fengqun Yu,Peter B. E. McVetty,Genyi Li +8 more
TL;DR: The authors' studies suggest that a single SRAP map might be applicable to the three Brassica species, B. napus, B.'s oleracea and B. rapa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Map-based cloning and characterization of a gene controlling hairiness and seed coat color traits in Brassica rapa.
Jiefu Zhang,Ying Lu,Yuxiang Yuan,Xiaowei Zhang,Jianfeng Geng,Chen Yu,Sylvie Cloutier,Peter B. E. McVetty,Genyi Li +8 more
TL;DR: This was the first identified gene in Brassica species that simultaneously controlled both hairiness and seed coat color traits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of QTL for oil content, seed yield, and flowering time in oilseed rape (Brassica napus)
Gang Chen,Jianfeng Geng,Mukhlesur Rahman,Xueping Liu,J. X. Tu,Tingdong Fu,Gengyi Li,Peter B. E. McVetty,M. Tahir +8 more
TL;DR: A genetic map was constructed with 353 sequence-related amplified polymorphism and 34 simple sequence repeat markers in oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) and covers 1,868 cM of the rapeseed genome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stellar low linolenic-high linoleic acid summer rape
TL;DR: Stellar summer rape (Brassica napus L.) is the first canola quality cultivar which produces seed oil with 3% linolenic acid and 28% linoleic acid, which has shorter hydrogenation time and better stability than standard canola oil.
