Journal ArticleDOI

Identification and optimization of PrsA in Bacillus subtilis for improved yield of amylase.

TL;DR: It is shown that on top of increasing amylase yield, a good PrsA–amylase pairing can lower the secretion stress response of B. subtilis, and thatPrsA homologs show a variety of specificity towards different alpha-amylases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome update: prediction of secreted proteins in 225 bacterial proteomes

TL;DR: Members of the Bacteroidetes/Chlorobi group appear to have a large fraction of proteins in their genome which are predicted to be secreted compared to other bacterial phyla.
Journal ArticleDOI

Global features of the Alcanivorax borkumensis SK2 genome

TL;DR: The gene clusters that confer the assimilation of aliphatic hydrocarbons, are localized in two genome islands which were probably acquired from an ancestor of the Yersinia lineage, whereas the alk genes of Pseudomonas putida still exhibit the typical Alcanivorax oligonucleotide signature indicating a complex evolution of this major hydrocarbonoclastic trait.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome Update: annotation quality in sequenced microbial genomes.

TL;DR: The fungal genome is that of Phanerochaete chrysosporium, the fungus responsible for ‘white rot’ in decaying trees and a Mediaevalis strain of Yersinia pestis.
Journal ArticleDOI

GeneWiz browser: An Interactive Tool for Visualizing Sequenced Chromosomes

TL;DR: The GeneWiz browser allows users to carry out various analyses such as mapping alignments of homologous genes to other genomes, mapping of short sequencing reads to a reference chromosome, and calculating DNA properties such as curvature or stacking energy along the chromosome.
