Giant Magnetic Susceptibility of Gold Nanorods Detected by Magnetic Alignment

TL;DR: The magnetic properties of single-crystalline Au nanorods in solution are determined using an optically detected magnetic alignment technique and it is speculated that the enhanced χ(V) is the result of orbital magnetism due to mesoscopic electron trajectories within the nanorod.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasmonic Assemblies for Real‐Time Single‐Molecule Biosensing

TL;DR: This review summarizes the development of real-time single-molecule sensors built around plasmonic assemblies and indicates that their stability, specificity, and sensitivity as sensors provide a complementary approach to other single-Molecule techniques like force spectroscopy and single- molecule fluorescence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuous Small-Molecule Monitoring with a Digital Single-Particle Switch.

TL;DR: A small-molecule sensor that is generalizable, sensitive, specific, reversible, and suited for continuous monitoring over long durations is described, demonstrating a temporal resolution of a few minutes for the monitoring of short single-stranded DNA sequences and creatinine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical properties of single supramolecular polymers from correlative AFM and fluorescence microscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the structure and mechanical properties of 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxamide (BTA) supramolecular polymers were characterized using correlative AFM and fluorescence imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fabrication of Low-Threshold 3D Void Structures inside a Polymer Matrix Doped with Gold Nanorods

TL;DR: In this paper, a low-threshold 3D void generation inside a polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA) polymer matrix doped with gold nanorods (NRs) by near infra red femtosecond laser pulses is reported.
