Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic structure and Slater–Pauling behaviour in half-metallic Heusler alloys calculated from first principles
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of the basic electronic and magnetic properties of NiMnSb and Co2MnGe half-metallic alloys, and show that the magnetic properties in these compounds are intrinsically related to the appearance of the minority-spin gap.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complex Band Structure and Tunneling through Ferromagnet / Insulator / Ferromagnet Junctions
TL;DR: In most cases, for large enough film thicknesses the tunneling is dominated by states of normal incidence on the interface, and the spin-dependent tunneling in Fe/semiconductor/Fe (001) junctions is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of the spin-orbit interaction on the band gap of half metals
TL;DR: In this article, the spin-orbit interaction can cause a nonvanishing density of states (DOS) within the minority-spin band gap of half metals around the Fermi level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction and Hall Effects in the Skyrmion Phase of Mn(1-x) Fe(x)Ge.
Jacob Gayles,Jacob Gayles,Frank Freimuth,Timo Schena,G. Lani,Ph. Mavropoulos,Rembert A. Duine,Stefan Blügel,Jairo Sinova,Jairo Sinova,Yuriy Mokrousov +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the electron dynamics in the Skyrmion phase of Fe-rich Mn_{1-x}Fe_{x}Ge alloys is governed by Berry phase physics, and the adiabatic Berry phase picture is violated in the Mn-rich limit of the alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kondo decoherence: finding the right spin model for iron impurities in gold and silver.
T. A. Costi,Lars Bergqvist,Andreas Weichselbaum,J. von Delft,Tobias Micklitz,Tobias Micklitz,Achim Rosch,Ph. Mavropoulos,Peter H. Dederichs,François Mallet,Laurent Saminadayar,Laurent Saminadayar,Christopher Bäuerle +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the decoherence of electrons due to magnetic impurities was exploited via weak localization to resolve a long-standing question concerning the classic Kondo systems of Fe impurities in the noble metals gold and silver.
