TL;DR: In this paper, a new method for measuring the temperatures in grinding by means of thermography is presented, combining with first results obtained from numerical simulations in order to obtain a new model of the heat flux entering the workpiece during the grinding process.

TL;DR: In this article, the infrared thermography principles applied to the thermal fields recording during orthogonal cutting of 316L stainless steel was presented. But the IR camera equipped with a microscope was integrated in a CNC lath to record grey levels while orthogonality cuttings of 316l samples.
