SARS-CoV-2 Transmission From People Without COVID-19 Symptoms.
Michael A. Johansson,Talia M. Quandelacy,Sarah Kada,Pragati V. Prasad,Molly C. Steele,John T. Brooks,Rachel B. Slayton,Matthew Biggerstaff,Jay C. Butler +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a decision analytical model assessed the relative amount of transmission from presymptomatic, never symptomatic, and symptomatic individuals across a range of scenarios in which the proportion of transmissions from people who never develop symptoms (i.e., remain asymptotic) and the infectious period were varied according to published best estimates.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Influenza vaccination averted substantial influenza-associated disease including hospitalizations and deaths in the US, primarily due to effectiveness against A(H1N1)pdm09, highlighting the value of influenza vaccination.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early Insights from Statistical and Mathematical Modeling of Key Epidemiologic Parameters of COVID-19.
Matthew Biggerstaff,Benjamin J. Cowling,Zulma M. Cucunubá,Linh Dinh,Neil M. Ferguson,Huizhi Gao,Verity Hill,Natsuko Imai,Michael A. Quandelacy,Andrew Rambaut,Jordan W Tappero,Katelijn Vandemaele,Alessandro Vespignani,K Lane Warmbrod,Jessica Y. Wong +20 more
TL;DR: Key epidemiologic parameter estimates for coronavirus disease identified in peer-reviewed publications, preprint articles, and online reports are reported, indicating parameters for transmission, disease severity, and intervention effectiveness are critical for guiding policy decisions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cruise Ship Travel in the Era of COVID-19: A Summary of Outbreaks and a Model of Public Health Interventions
Sarah Anne J. Guagliardo,Pragati V. Prasad,Andrea Rodriguez,Rena Fukunaga,Ryan T. Novak,Lauren Ahart,Jared Reynolds,Isabel Griffin,Ryan E. Wiegand,Laura A S Quilter,Stephanie Morrison,Keisha Jenkins,Hilary K. Wall,Aimee Treffiletti,Stefanie B. White,Joanna J. Regan,Kara Tardivel,Amy L. Freeland,Clive Brown,Hannah Wolford,Michael A. Johansson,Martin S. Cetron,Rachel B. Slayton,Cindy R. Friedman +23 more
TL;DR: Cruise travel contributed to SARS-CoV-2 transmission when there were relatively few cases in the United States, and despite all interventions modelled, cruise travel still poses a significant Sars- CoV- 2 transmission risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
