Anthropogenic organic contaminants (AOCs) are found to exert significant impacts on the human ecosystem, even at low or trace-level concentrations. To meet the growing demand for their quantitation in diverse environmental media, the use of preconcentration approaches (such as solid phase extraction) has become an essential component to practically upgrade both procedural efficiency and the analytical sensitivity. Nanomaterials (NMs) are realized as excellent candidates for proper sorption media because of their unique structural and surface properties with noticeably enhanced sorption capability towards contaminants. This review explores the use of various NMs (metallic and mixed oxide nanoparticles (NPs), carbon NMs (fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and graphene oxide), polymer-based nanocomposites (organic polymers, inorganic and hybrid polymers, molecularly imprinted polymers, and dendrimers), and silicon/magnetic NPs) as potential sorbents for analytical applications. In this review, the distinctive features of NM-based sorptive extraction techniques are examined comprehensively with the discussion on their future prospects and key challenges.

The applications of ionic liquids (ILs) and IL-derived sorbents are rapidly expanding. By careful selection of the cation and anion components, the physicochemical properties of ILs can be altered to meet the requirements of specific applications. Reports of IL solvents possessing high selectivity for specific analytes are numerous and continue to motivate the development of new IL-based sample preparation methods that are faster, more selective, and environmentally benign compared to conventional organic solvents. The advantages of ILs have also been exploited in solid/polymer formats in which ordinarily nonspecific sorbents are functionalized with IL moieties in order to impart selectivity for an analyte or analyte class. Furthermore, new ILs that incorporate a paramagnetic component into the IL structure, known as magnetic ionic liquids (MILs), have emerged as useful solvents for bioanalytical applications. In this rapidly changing field, this Review focuses on the applications of ILs and IL-based sorbents in sample preparation with a special emphasis on liquid phase extraction techniques using ILs and MILs, IL-based solid-phase extraction, ILs in mass spectrometry, and biological applications.

The invention provides preparation and application of a glyphosate molecular imprinting solid-phase extraction small column. The preparation method specifically comprises the following steps: preparing fillers, and taking the prepared glyphosate molecular imprinting polymer as an adsorbent for combination of solid-phase extraction and liquid chromatography. The process is simple, the cost is low,the experiment is simple to operate and the reaction conditions are easy to control; furthermore, the prepared glyphosate molecular imprinting polymer serves as the adsorbent for combination of solid-phase extraction and liquid chromatography, is suitable for enrichment and purification of a trace amount of glyphosate in water, and has good economic and environment benefits.
