Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of oceanic whitecaps and foams on pulse‐limited radar altimeters
TL;DR: In this paper, the microwave reflectivity of a sea surface covered by whitecaps and foams at 13.9 GHz was computed based on the electromagnetic field theory of stratified media.
Journal ArticleDOI
Satellite observation and model simulation of upper ocean biophysical response to Super Typhoon Nakri
TL;DR: In this article, the physical and biological responses to Typhoon Nakri during a period from 1 to 8 June 2008 in the western North Pacific were examined using multi-satellite remote sensing data and Regional Ocean Model System (ROMS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Statistical features of eddies approaching the Kuroshio east of Taiwan Island and Luzon Island
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the statistical features of eddies approaching the Kuroshio east of Taiwan Island and Luzon Island and found that eddies frequently intrude into the region at two latitude bands, namely, 18°N−19°N and 22°N-23°N, with periods of 146±−62 and 165±−46 days, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coastal-Trapped Waves in the East China Sea Observed by a Mooring Array in Winter 2006
TL;DR: Using five mooring array observations in the coastal water of the East China Sea (ECS) in winter 2006, Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper identified three kinds of low-frequency waves using the ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laboratory Measurement of Water Surface Bubble Life Time
TL;DR: In this paper, the statistical features of bubble life time on water surfaces are discussed and the measurement results showed that bubble life times of various water samples follow a Rayleigh distribution and that the mean life times are a function of the bubble sizes.
