Large eddy simulation of particle‐laden turbulent channel flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a large eddy simulation (LES) of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations was performed at channel flow Reynolds numbers, Reτ, of 180 and 644 (based on friction velocity and channel half width); subgridscale stresses were parametrized using the Lagrangian dynamic eddy viscosity model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lagrangian statistics in turbulent channel flow

TL;DR: In this paper, single-particle Lagrangian velocity autocorrelations and particle mean-square dispersion were obtained from trajectories measured for 5000 fluid elements initially in either the viscous sublayer, buffer layer, or logarithmic region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extension of the fractional step method to general curvilinear coordinate systems

TL;DR: In this article, a semi-direct solution of the Poisson equation using series expansion along one coordinate direction that is discretized on a uniform, Cartesian grid is presented. But it is shown that for fractional step methods satisfaction of the zero-divergence constraint is still possible using the simplified Poisson equations, but the associated error is larger.
