TL;DR: Hawryluk et al. as mentioned in this paper described the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) experiments on high-temperature plasmas, that culminated in the study of deuterium-to-tritium D-T Plasmas containing significant populations of energetic alpha particles, spanned over two decades from conception to completion.
ReportDOI
Enhanced D-T supershot performance at high current using extensive lithium conditioning in TFTR
D.K. Mansfield,J.D. Strachan,M.G. Bell,S.D. Scott,R. Budny,R.E. Bell,M. Bitter,D.S. Darrow,E. Fredrickson,B. Grek +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a substantial improvement in supershot fusion plasma performance has been realized by combining the enhanced confinement due to tritium fueling with enhanced confinement of the TFTR limiter, resulting in significantly higher global energy confinement times than had previously been obtained in high current supershots.
ReportDOI
Neutral beam heating of detached plasmas in TFTR
C. E. Bush,J. D. Strachan,J. Schivell,D. K. Mansfield,G. Taylor,Boris Grek,R. Budny,D. H. McNeill,M.G. Bell,F.P. Boody +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, detached plasmas on TFTR have been heated with neutral beam auxiliary power for the first time, and transient events were observed in a number of these plamas, including a confinement-related delay in evolution of the edge emissivity and some phenomena which appear similar to those seen in the H-mode.
