XFEL: The European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser - Technical Design Report

Rafael Abela, +292 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors dealt with TTF/FLASH in the XFEL context, general layout of the X-FEL facility, the X FEL accelerator, undulators for SAES and spontaneous emission, infrastructure and auxiliary systems, commissioning and operation, project management and organization, cost and time schedule.

First observation of self-amplified spontaneous emission in a free-electron laser at 109 nm wavelength

J. Andruszkow, +144 more
TL;DR: The first observation of self-amplified spontaneous emission (SASE) in a free-electron laser (FEL) in the vacuum ultraviolet regime at 109 nm wavelength is presented.

The TESLA Cryogenic Accelerator Modules

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present design, construction and assembly details of the TESLA Test Facility (TTF) at DESY, a 32 km long superconducting linear electron/positron collider of 500 GeV (upgradeable to 800 GeV) center of mass energy.

Test of Two NB Superstructure Prototypes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented results of the first cold and beam test of these two Nb prototypes, which were installed in the Tesla Test Facility linac at DESY to experimentally verify methods to balance the accelerating gradient in a weakly coupled system, the stability of the energy gain for the entire train of bunches in macropulses, and the damping of higher order modes.
