Journal ArticleDOI

Fungal enzymes degrading plant cell walls: their possible significance in the ectomycorrhizal symbiosis

TL;DR: This work examines the evidence for these enzyme activities in the context of the structure of plant cell walls and what is known regarding their enzymic breakdown by other fungal groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbohydrolase production by the ericoid mycorrhizal fungus Hymenoscyphus ericae under solid-state fermentation conditions

TL;DR: The data indicate that H. ericae possesses a considerable ability to degrade plant polymeric material and are discussed in relation to establishment of the symbiosis and interaction of mycelium with moribund plant organic matter in soil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular and biochemical evidence for manganese-dependent peroxidase activity in Tylospora fibrillosa

TL;DR: Two gel-based and spectrophotometric assays were used to demonstrate expression of a manganese-dependent peroxidase (MnP) activity in culture filtrates of the ectomycorrhizal basidiomycete Tylospora fibrillosa, strongly suggesting the presence of a homologous gene in the ectomical fungus.
