Mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) – A promising spice for phytochemicals and biological activities
TL;DR: The major active components present in C. amada, a unique spice having morphological resemblance with ginger but imparts a raw mango flavour, are brought to light along with their biological activities that may be important from the pharmacological point of view.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of antioxidant and antibacterial compound from mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) rhizome.
TL;DR: The chloroform extract of mango ginger rhizome was subjected to antioxidant activity-guided purification by repeated silica gel column chromatography to obtain a pure antioxidant compound, which showed antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria tested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial, antioxidant, cytotoxicity and platelet aggregation inhibitory activity of a novel molecule isolated and characterized from mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) rhizome.
TL;DR: The chloroform extract of mango ginger rhizome was subjected to antibacterial activity-guided purification by repeated silica gel column chromatography to obtain a pure compound, and the structure of the isolated compound was deduced by analysing UV, IR, LC-MS and 2D-HMQCT NMR spectral data, and named it as amadaldehyde, a novel compound.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical composition and antioxidant activity of sapota (achras sapota linn.) fruit
TL;DR: Sapodilla (Achras sapota linn) belongs to the family Sapotaceae and is used in the traditional system of Indian medicine as discussed by the authors, which reveals that it is a rich source of sugars, proteins, ascorbic acid, phenols, carotenoids and minerals such as Fe, Cu, Zn, Ca and K. Sapodilla juice inhibited the free radical-mediated lipid peroxidation in a liposome model system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and biochemical properties of starch from an unconventional source—Mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) rhizome
R.S. Policegoudra,S.M. Aradhya +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the first report on isolation and characterization of starch from mango ginger was presented, which was characterized with respect to amylose, solubility, gelatinization, ash, moisture content, X-ray diffraction pattern and structure of starch granules.
