Journal ArticleDOI

Factors responsible for ADP-induced release reaction of human platelets

TL;DR: Although fibrinogen is required for ADP-induced primary aggregation, it does not support secondary aggregation and release, provided that it has no clot-promoting activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fibrinogen and ADP-induced platelet aggregation

TL;DR: Fibrinogen is required for ADP-induced aggregation of washed human platelets and enhances ADP induced aggregation of rabbit platelets as discussed by the authors, but it is not required to be present before ADP was added or added with the ADP.
Journal Article

Platelet interaction with damaged rabbit aorta.

TL;DR: In rabbits, it cannot be assumed that platelet survival provides an estimate of endothelial injury in all circumstances, and by injecting 51Cr-labeled platelets into rabbits at different times after injury, the reactivity of the exposed surface to newly injected platelets was estimated.
Book ChapterDOI

Isolation of human platelets from plasma by centrifugation and washing.

TL;DR: This chapter describes the process of isolating human platelets from plasma by centrifugation and washing, which shows that platelets respond to aggregating and release-inducing agents in a manner similar to platelets in native plasma, or plasma anticoagulated with hirudin, and maintain this responsiveness for hours.
