Dabigatran versus warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation
Stuart J. Connolly,Michael D. Ezekowitz,John W. Eikelboom,Jonas Oldgren,Amit Parekh,Janice Pogue,Paul A. Reilly,Ellison Themeles,Jeanne Varrone,Susan Wang,Marco Alings,Denis Xavier,Jun Zhu,Rafael Diaz,Basil S. Lewis,Harald Darius,Hans-Christoph Diener,Campbell D. Joyner,Lars Wallentin +18 more
TL;DR: In patients with atrial fibrillation, dabigatran given at a dose of 110 mg was associated with rates of stroke and systemic embolism that were similar to those associated with warfarin, as well as lower rates of major hemorrhage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apixaban versus Warfarin in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
Christopher B. Granger,John H. Alexander,Renato D. Lopes,Elaine M. Hylek,Michael G. Hanna,Hussein R. Al-Khalidi,Jack Ansell,Dan Atar,Alvaro Avezum,M. Cecilia Bahit,Rafael Diaz,J. Horowitz,Puneet Mohan,Petr Jansky,Basil S. Lewis,Jose Lopez-Sendon,Prem Pais,Alexander Parkhomenko,Jun Zhu,Lars Wallentin +29 more
TL;DR: In patients with atrial fibrillation, apixaban was superior to warfarin in preventing stroke or systemic embolism, caused less bleeding, and resulted in lower mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apixaban in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
Stuart J. Connolly,John W. Eikelboom,Campbell D. Joyner,Hans-Christoph Diener,Robert G. Hart,Sergey P. Golitsyn,Greg C. Flaker,Alvaro Avezum,Stefan H. TL;DR: In patients with atrial fibrillation for whom vitamin K antagonist therapy was unsuitable, apixaban reduced the risk of stroke or systemic embolism without significantly increasing therisk of major bleeding or intracranial hemorrhage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spironolactone for Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction
Bertram Pitt,Marc A. Pfeffer,Susan F. Assmann,Robin Boineau,Inder S. Anand,Brian Claggett,Nadine Oliveira Clausell,Akshay S. Desai,Rafael Diaz,Jerome L. Fleg,Ivan Gordeev,Brian Harty,John F. TL;DR: In patients with heart failure and a preserved ejection fraction, treatment with spironolactone did not significantly reduce the incidence of the primary composite outcome of death from cardiovascular causes, aborted cardiac arrest, or hospitalization for the management of heart failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lixisenatide in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Acute Coronary Syndrome
Marc A. Pfeffer,Brian Claggett,Rafael Diaz,Kenneth Dickstein,Hertzel C. Gerstein,Lars Køber,Francesca C. Lawson,Lin Ping,Xiaodan Wei,Eldrin F. Lewis,Aldo P. Maggioni,John J.V. McMurray,Jeffrey L. Probstfield,Matthew C. Riddle,Scott D. Solomon,Jean-Claude Tardif +15 more
TL;DR: In patients with type 2 diabetes and a recent acute coronary syndrome, the addition of lixisenatide to usual care did not significantly alter the rate of major cardiovascular events or other serious adverse events.
