Effect of Ginkgo biloba extract on preexisting visual field damage in normal tension glaucoma.
Luciano Quaranta,Sabina Bettelli,Maurizio G. Uva,Francesco Semeraro,Raffaele Turano,Enrico Gandolfo +5 more
TL;DR: Ginkgo biloba extract administration appears to improve preexisting visual field damage in some patients with NTG, and no significant changes were found in intraocular pressure, blood pressure, or heart rate after placebo or GBE treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Topical Hypotensive Drugs on Circadian IOP, Blood Pressure, and Calculated Diastolic Ocular Perfusion Pressure in Patients with Glaucoma
Luciano Quaranta,Federico Gandolfo,Raffaele Turano,Federico Rovida,Teodoro Pizzolante,Andrea Musig,Enrico Gandolfo +6 more
TL;DR: In this study of patients with newly diagnosed primary open-angle glaucoma, only dorzolamide and latanoprost significantly increased mean 24-hour DOPP, although timolol was as effective as latano during the daytime, and dorZolamide are as effective at night.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Smartphone Ophthalmoscopy With Slit-Lamp Biomicroscopy for Grading Vertical Cup-to-Disc Ratio.
Andrea Russo,William Mapham,Raffaele Turano,Ciro Costagliola,Francesco Morescalchi,Nicolò Scaroni,Francesco Semeraro +6 more
TL;DR: Smartphone ophthalmoscopy showed substantial agreement with slit-lamp examination for the estimation of the VCDR, enabling an extensive benefit for this technology to be used in glaucoma screening, especially in low-resource settings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymerase chain reaction as a rapid diagnostic tool for therapy of acute retinal necrosis syndrome
Franco Gargiulo,Maria Antonia De Francesco,Giuseppe Nascimbeni,Raffaele Turano,Francesca Perandin,Enrico Gandolfo,Nino Manca +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the use of PCR for detecting herpesvirus DNA in aqueous humor of uveitic subjects may be a valuable tool for early diagnosis of acute retinal necrosis syndrome and for timely administration of a suitable therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of half-dose photodynamic therapy and 689 nm laser treatment in eyes with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy
Andrea Russo,Raffaele Turano,Francesco Morescalchi,Elena Gambicorti,Anna Cancarini,Sarah Duse,Ciro Costagliola,Francesco Semeraro +7 more
TL;DR: Both hd-PDT and 689-LT were effective at treating chronic CSC and both groups showed significant BCVA improvements, as well as reductions in central retinal and subfoveal choroidal thickness.
