Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19 and therapy with essential oils having antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties.
TL;DR: Role of EOs in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 is discussed, and a chemo-herbal (EOs) combination of the drugs could be a more feasible and effective approach to combat this viral pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phyllanthus Niruri Standardized Extract Alleviates the Progression of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Decreases Atherosclerotic Risk in Sprague-Dawley Rats.
Raghdaa Al Zarzour,Mariam Ahmad,Mohd Zaini Asmawi,Gurjeet Kaur,Mohammed Ali Ahmed Saeed,Majed Ahmed Al-Mansoub,Sultan A M Saghir,Nasiba Salisu Usman,Dhamraa W. Al-Dulaimi,Mun Fei Yam +9 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that P. niruri could be further developed as a novel natural hepatoprotective agent against NAFLD and atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adipocytokine Regulation and Antiangiogenic Activity Underlie the Molecular Mechanisms of Therapeutic Effects of Phyllanthus niruri against Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Raghdaa Al Zarzour,Mohammed A. Alshawsh,Muhammad Asif,Muhammad Asif,Majed Ahmed Al-Mansoub,Zahurin Mohamed,Mariam Ahmad,Amin Malik Shah Abdul Majid,Mohd Zaini Asmawi,Gurjeet Kaur,Dhamraa Waleed Al-dualimi,Mun Fei Yam +11 more
TL;DR: The findings demonstrated that the therapeutic effects of 50% ME among NAFLD rats, were associated with a significant increase in serum adiponectin, reduction in the serum levels of RBP4, vaspin, progranulin, TNF-α, IL-6, and significant downregulation of the hepatic gene expression of PPARγ, SLC10A2, and Collα1.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Comparison of the Gene Expression Profiles of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease between Animal Models of a High-Fat Diet and Methionine-Choline-Deficient Diet
Mohammed A. Alshawsh,Abdulsamad Alsalahi,S. Alshehade,Sultan A M Saghir,Ahmad Ahmeda,Raghdaa Al Zarzour,Ayman M. Mahmoud +6 more
TL;DR: Assessing the abnormal gene expression patterns caused by different diet types provides valuable information regarding the molecular mechanisms of NAFLD/NASH and predicts the clinical progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anticlastogenic, antimutagenic, and cytoprotective properties of Orthosiphon stamineus ethanolic leaves extract
Dhamraa W. Al-Dulaimi,Aman Shah Abdul Majid,Hussein M. Baharetha,Mohamed B. Khadeer Ahamed,Sarah Furqan Faisal,Raghdaa Al Zarzour,Chern Ein Oon,Amin Malik Shah Abdul Majid,Amin Malik Shah Abdul Majid,Loiy Elsir Ahmed Hassan +9 more
TL;DR: Data suggests that O. stamineus extract could be useful as cytoprotective, antimutagenic, and anticlastogenic efficacies, which owes to its potent chemoprevention, antioxidant, and glutathione activation properties.
