ABA Is Required for Plant Acclimation to a Combination of Salt and Heat Stress
Nobuhiro Suzuki,Elias Bassil,Jason S. Hamilton,Madhuri A. Inupakutika,Sara I. Zandalinas,Deesha Tripathy,Yuting Luo,Erin Dion,Ginga Fukui,Ayana Kumazaki,Ruka Nakano,Rosa M. Rivero,Guido F. Verbeck,Rajeev K. Azad,Rajeev K. Azad,Eduardo Blumwald,Ron Mittler +16 more
TL;DR: Arabidopsis plants were found to be more susceptible to a combination of salt and heat stress compared to each of the different stresses applied individually, and mutants deficient in abscisic acid metabolism and signaling were more susceptible than wild type plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systemic signaling during abiotic stress combination in plants.
Sara I. Zandalinas,Yosef Fichman,Amith R. Devireddy,Soham Sengupta,Rajeev K. Azad,Ron Mittler +5 more
TL;DR: It is revealed that plants can integrate different local and systemic signals generated during conditions of stress combination, and that the specific part at which plants sense the two co-occurring stresses makes a significant difference in how fast and efficient they acclimate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Current concepts in the pathogenesis and treatment of chronic suppurative otitis media
Rahul Mittal,Christopher V. Lisi,Robert Gerring,Jeenu Mittal,Kalai Mathee,Giri Narasimhan,Rajeev K. Azad,Qi Yao,M'hamed Grati,Denise Yan,Adrien A. Eshraghi,Simon I. Angeli,Fred F. Telischi,Xue Zhong Liu +13 more
TL;DR: Understanding the molecular mechanisms leading to CSOM will help in designing novel treatment modalities against the disease and hence preventing the hearing loss.
Journal ArticleDOI
Jasmonic Acid Is Required for Plant Acclimation to a Combination of High Light and Heat Stress
Damián Balfagón,Soham Sengupta,Aurelio Gómez-Cadenas,Felix B. Fritschi,Rajeev K. Azad,Ron Mittler,Sara I. Zandalinas +6 more
TL;DR: This study reveals that JA plays an important role in the acclimation of plants to a combination of HL+HS, and identifies several unique aspects of this stress combination that included enhanced accumulation of jasmonic acid (JA) and JA-Ile, elevated expression of over 2,200 different transcripts that are unique to the stress combination.
Journal ArticleDOI
The evolution of reactive oxygen species metabolism.
TL;DR: Life forms have therefore evolved in the presence of ROS on Earth for at least 3.8-3.6 billion years, highlighting the intimate relationship that exists today between many physiological and developmental processes and ROS.
