TL;DR: In this paper, a new procedure has been developed for the synthesis of diterpenoid (16S)-dihydrosteviol by acid hydrolysis (0.7% hydrochloric acid) of SWETA food sweetener and subsequent reduction of the resulting mixture of caurenoids with hydrazine hydrate over Raney nickel.
